Czech Inflation Rises To 2.9%

Inflation in consumer prices in the Czech Republic rose in April to its highest point in four months, according to data from the Czech Statistical Office released on Monday. The year-over-year increase in consumer prices for April was 2.9 percent, a faster rate than the stable increase of 2.0 percent recorded in March.

The yearly growth in transport charges accelerated to 4.7 percent in April, up from the 3.5 percent growth seen in the previous month. In contrast, Utility costs were 3.3 percent higher compared to the previous year, even while the prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded a 2.7 percent decline.

Furthermore, data on a monthly basis revealed that consumer prices increased by 0.7 percent in April as opposed to a mere 0.1 percent increase in March.
