Spain Sees Record Visitors in 2025

In December 2025, Spain welcomed around 5.3 million international visitors, marking a 0.4% increase compared to the same period in 2024 and achieving a new monthly record. The United Kingdom retained its position as the primary source of tourists, with 900,208 visitors, representing a slight rise of 0.1% from December 2024. France followed with 707,513 tourists, a decrease of 8.4%, and Germany with 596,042 visitors, a drop of 4.4%. Over the entirety of 2025, Spain saw tourist numbers reach nearly 96.8 million, the highest on record, and a 3.2% increase over 2024. Despite this growth, the total fell short of the government's initial projection of 100 million visitors, mainly due to a notable rise in costs, particularly in hotel accommodations, and reduced arrivals from France and Germany, which are Spain's second and third-largest tourism markets, respectively.
