Colombia's retail sector continued to face challenges as retail sales fell even further in December 2023, according to the latest data. The previous indicator, which measured the change in retail sales for November 2023 compared to the same month the previous year, stood at -3.4%. However, the latest figures reveal a steeper decline, with the current indicator reaching -4.7%.

The decline in retail sales highlights the ongoing struggles faced by businesses in Colombia's retail sector. Despite efforts to stimulate consumer spending, such as Black Friday promotions and year-end sales, the country's retail industry has seen a prolonged downturn.

The data, updated on 14 February 2024, highlights the Year-over-Year comparison, demonstrating the negative change in retail sales for December 2023 compared to December of the previous year. This indicates a continuous decline in consumer spending, which poses significant challenges for the retail industry in Colombia.
