Eni S.p.A. (E), an Italian energy company, announced on Friday the Indonesian authorities' approval of the Development Plan for the Geng North/North Ganal PSC and Gehem/Rapak PSC fields. This development will establish a new production hub, named the Northern Hub, in the Kutei Basin.
Additionally, the Indonesian authorities have sanctioned the development plans for the Gendalo and Gandang fields under the Ganal PSC.
Furthermore, Eni has secured a 20-year extension for the IDD licenses, Ganal and Rapak, from the Indonesian authorities.
This will enable Eni to significantly boost gas and condensate production to approximately 2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) of gas and 80,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) of condensate in the East Kalimantan region.
The approved Gendalo and Gandang project plan includes the development of a cumulative 2 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas reserves within the Ganal PSC through subsea wells connected to the Jangkrik Floating Production Unit (FPU).
The development of the Gendalo and Gandang fields is expected to extend the Jangkrik gas production plateau, which currently approaches 750 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d), by at least 15 years.
Additionally, Eni plans to embark on a drilling campaign over the next 4-5 years to explore the considerable near-field exploration potential within the Eni-operated blocks in the Kutei Basin.
