The unemployment rate in Italy experienced a slight uptick, reaching 6.1% in September 2025, up from 6% in the previous two months, aligning with market predictions. This marked the highest unemployment rate since June. The number of individuals without employment rose by 31,000 compared to the prior month, totaling 1.582 million. Concurrently, the employment rate increased marginally to 62.7% from 62.5%, with an additional 67,000 individuals gaining employment, bringing the total to 24.22 million. The labor force participation rate also saw a rise, moving to 66.9% from 66.7%. Among young people, aged 15 to 24, seeking employment, the youth unemployment rate edged up to 20.6% from 19.7%.
