The Central Bank of Botswana increased its key interest rate by 160 basis points, reaching 3.5% during its standard meeting on October 30, 2025. This move represents the first rate increase since June 2022, elevating borrowing costs to their highest level since March 2022 due to mounting signs of inflationary pressure. Botswana's annual inflation rate climbed for the second consecutive month to 3.7% in September 2025, the highest level seen since August 2024, up from 1.4% in August 2025.
