Brazil’s Producer Inflation Accelerates in January, PPI Rises to 0.34% MoM

Brazil’s Producer Price Index (PPI) picked up pace at the start of 2026, with prices at the factory gate rising 0.34% month-over-month in January, according to data updated on 4 March 2026. The increase marks a firm acceleration from December 2025, when the PPI had registered a more modest 0.14% monthly gain.

On a month-over-month basis, the January reading shows producer inflation more than doubling compared to the previous month, underscoring rising cost pressures in the production chain. The “actual” figure for January reflects the change versus December 2025, while the “previous” figure of 0.14% represents December’s change relative to November 2025.

The stronger January print may signal that upstream price pressures are building as 2026 begins, a development that could eventually filter through to consumer prices if sustained in the coming months. Market participants will be watching subsequent releases closely to gauge whether this marks the start of a new trend in Brazilian producer inflation or a temporary acceleration.
