Romania Producer Inflation Eases to 8-Month Low

Romania’s producer inflation eased to 3% year-on-year in February 2026, down from a downwardly revised 7.72% in January, marking the lowest rate in eight months. The deceleration was driven largely by a sharp slowdown in price growth for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (1.16% vs 19.38% in January), as well as a deeper decline in costs for mining and quarrying (-1.8% vs -0.31%).

By contrast, prices continued to rise in several sectors, notably water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (14.28% vs 12.98%) and manufacturing (3.77% vs 3.75%). Within manufacturing, gains were supported by higher prices for food products (+3.39%), beverages (+5.25%), tobacco products (+5.69%), and wearing apparel (+7.88%).

On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 1.09% in February, after a 2.15% increase in the previous month.
