Slovakia’s Core Inflation Turns Negative in June, Signaling Softer Price Pressures

Slovakia’s core consumer price index (CPI) slipped into negative territory in June 2026, pointing to easing underlying inflationary pressures in the economy. Month-over-month, core CPI fell by 0.1%, a marked reversal from the 0.4% increase recorded in May 2026.

The latest data, updated on 15 July 2026, show that the momentum in core prices has not only slowed but turned slightly deflationary on a monthly basis. While May’s 0.4% rise indicated persistent price growth, June’s -0.1% reading suggests a cooling trend when comparing each month to the one immediately prior. This month-over-month shift will be closely watched by analysts as they assess whether softer core inflation becomes a more sustained pattern in Slovakia’s price dynamics.
