Czechia Economy Grows 0.4% in Q2

According to preliminary estimates, the Czech Republic’s gross domestic product grew by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2026. This marked an acceleration from the 0.2% increase recorded in the previous quarter, though it came in just below market expectations of 0.5%. The expansion was driven by higher final consumption expenditure and a positive contribution from net exports, while gross capital formation dampened overall growth. Industry was the main engine of quarter-on-quarter gross value added, with most service sectors also posting solid gains. Year-on-year, the economy expanded by 2.0% in Q2 2026, slightly slower than the 2.2% increase in the previous quarter. This growth was supported primarily by stronger household final consumption expenditure and rising foreign demand. Industry again provided the largest contribution to gross value added, complemented by notable support from the trade, transport, accommodation and food service, and information and communication sectors.
