Eurozone Unemployment Rate Holds at 6.3%

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the Eurozone stood at 6.3% in June 2026, unchanged for the fourth consecutive month and slightly above market expectations of a new record low of 6.2%. This outcome underscores continued stability in the currency bloc’s labor market despite sharp increases in energy prices and interest rates in recent months following the outbreak of war in the Middle East.

The number of unemployed people rose by 69,000 from the previous month, reaching 11.13 million. By contrast, the jobless rate among those under 25 edged down to 14.8% from 14.9% in May.

Across the largest economies in the Euro Area, unemployment increased in Germany (3.9% vs. 3.8% in May) and Italy (5.7% vs. 5.3%), remained unchanged in France (8.2%), and declined in Spain (10.1% vs. 10.2%) and the Netherlands (3.8% vs. 3.9%).
