Cyprus Industrial Output Growth Eases Further in May

Industrial production in Cyprus rose 0.5% year-on-year in May 2026, easing from an upwardly revised 1.9% increase in April. The slowdown was driven by softer growth across several sectors: mining and quarrying (0.5% vs. 4.5% in April), manufacturing (0.8% vs. 0.9%), largely due to weaker output of basic metals and fabricated metal products, electricity supply (0.0% vs. 8.3%), and water collection, treatment and supply (10.1% vs. 15.2%).

At the same time, water supply swung into contraction (-3.4% vs. 4.3%), while materials recovery remained in decline, with output falling at a faster rate (-19.6% vs. -9.1%). Over the January–May period, industrial production expanded 1.5% compared with the same period a year earlier.
