Thailand’s Current Account Deficit Narrows Sharply in June 2026

Thailand’s external position showed signs of improvement in June 2026, as the country’s current account deficit narrowed to -3.500 billion dollars, compared with a deeper shortfall of -6.400 billion dollars in May 2026.

The latest data, updated on 31 July 2026, indicate a notable month-on-month easing in external pressures. While the current account remained in negative territory, the reduced deficit suggests a partial recovery in Thailand’s balance with the rest of the world during June, following the pronounced deterioration recorded in May.

Investors and analysts will be watching upcoming releases closely to assess whether June’s improvement marks the start of a more sustained stabilization in Thailand’s external accounts, or merely a temporary correction after May’s sharp deficit widening.
