Macau Q2 GDP Growth Slows Sharply

Macau’s economy expanded by 0.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, a sharp deceleration from the 7.1% growth recorded in the previous quarter, according to preliminary estimates. Despite the slowdown, this was the fifth consecutive quarter of economic expansion, supported primarily by a 7.2% increase in services exports, underpinned by a 13.9% year-on-year surge in visitor arrivals. Domestically, private consumption expenditure continued to grow at a steady pace, rising 2.8% from a year earlier. In contrast, government consumption expenditure declined by 4.8%, and gross fixed capital formation contracted markedly, falling 21.9%.
