Chile Copper Output Rebounds in June

Chile’s copper production increased by 5.1% year-on-year to 447,294 metric tons in June 2026, rebounding from a 12.9% contraction in May. The upturn was primarily driven by higher ore processing at the country’s major mining companies. This recovery in Chile, the world’s largest copper producer, helped alleviate concerns about a tightening global copper supply. At the same time, Chile’s Mining Production Index rose 6% compared with a year earlier, supported by a 4.6% expansion in metallic mining, a 14.5% surge in non-metallic mining, and a 4.3% increase in energy resources output.
