Malta Producer Inflation Steady for 3 Months

Producer prices in Malta rose by 1.5% year-on-year in July 2026, unchanged from the previous two months and remaining at their highest level since October 2023. Energy prices were flat compared with June.

Among main categories, prices for intermediate goods increased at a slower rate (1.6% vs 2.7%), while inflation for capital goods accelerated (5.5% vs 5.0%). Consumer goods inflation picked up to 0.7% after being unchanged a month earlier: prices for durable consumer goods were stable at 0.1%, and those for non-durable consumer goods rose 0.7% after stagnating in June.

By market destination, producer price inflation for the domestic market edged up to 1.1% from 1.0%, while it eased to 1.9% from 2.1% for the non-domestic market. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 0.3% in July, up from a 0.2% gain in June and the strongest rise since February.
