Speculators Trim Bullish Bets on Brazil’s Real as Net Long Positions Decline

Speculative interest in Brazil’s currency has eased, with the latest data on CFTC BRL speculative net positions showing a pullback in bullish bets. According to figures updated on 09 October 2026, net positions in the Brazilian real fell to 52.3K contracts, down from the previous reading of 60.5K.

The decline in net long positions suggests that investors have become somewhat more cautious on the BRL, reducing exposure after a stronger build-up in optimism earlier. While positioning remains in positive territory, the moderation in speculative demand may signal a reassessment of the currency’s near-term prospects among traders active in futures and options linked to the Brazilian real.
