Dutch Manufacturing Growth Eases in October

The Nevi Netherlands Manufacturing PMI edged down to 55.0 in October 2026 from a four-month high of 55.6 in September. Growth in both output and new orders slowed, though remained robust, while the expansion in export orders eased to around its long-run average.

Overall output growth was still among the strongest since early 2022, driven primarily by intermediate goods producers. Employment growth moderated but stayed above its historical norm, and backlogs of work rose for the sixth consecutive month.

Purchasing activity continued to increase, albeit at a slower rate, as manufacturers sharply built up stocks of purchases in response to deteriorating supply-chain conditions. Supplier delivery times lengthened at the fastest pace in three months, reflecting material shortages, low river water levels, and disruptions related to the Middle East.

On the price front, both input cost inflation and output price inflation accelerated to their highest levels in three months. Business confidence dipped slightly but remained above its long-term trend.
