Producer prices in Finland experienced a notable drop of 2.0% year-on-year in May 2025, compared to a 1.1% decline in April. This indicates the second consecutive month of producer price deflation and represents the sharpest decrease since October of the previous year, driven by significant price reductions across various sectors. Manufacturing prices saw a decrease of 1.5%, a slight acceleration from the 1.1% fall in April, largely influenced by lower costs for refined petroleum products. More pronounced declines were observed in the mining and quarrying sector, which decreased by 5.1% compared to 3.5% previously, and in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply, which plunged by 10.0%, a significant increase from the earlier 3.0% decline. Furthermore, the growth in prices for water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services slowed substantially, tapering to 3.3% from 7.9% in the prior month. On a month-to-month basis, producer prices diminished by 1.3% in May 2025, following a 0.7% decrease in April, making this the third consecutive month of declining prices and the most significant monthly decrease since May 2023.
