In June 2025, Indonesia's retail sales experienced a 1.3% annual growth, slightly less than the 1.9% increase observed in May, yet continuing the positive trend for the second consecutive month. The growth rate for food, beverages, and tobacco sales eased to 2.4% from 4.0% in May, and cultural and recreational goods saw a deceleration to 1.5% from 4.7%. Additionally, sales declined in sectors such as automotive parts and accessories (-0.9% compared to 1.6% in May) and fuel (1.2% down from 5.3%). Sales of household appliances (-5.9% vs. -5.8%) and information and communication equipment (-17.9% vs. -27.4%) also reflected weakening. However, clothing saw a sales increase of 1.4%, marking the first rise in three months. On a month-over-month basis, retail sales saw a slight decline of 0.2%, a reduction from the 1.3% drop in May. This represented the smallest decrease in three months, buoyed by spending related to holidays and cash distributions by the government in preparation for the new school term.
