In August 2025, Bulgaria's industrial production experienced an 8.7% decline compared to the same month the previous year, which represents a deeper drop from the recently revised 8.4% decrease in July. This result signifies the ninth consecutive month of diminishing industrial output and the most pronounced contraction since April, primarily driven by notable downturns across all sectors. In particular, the output for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning fell by 30.8%, although this was a slight improvement from July’s 35% decrease. Manufacturing activity also declined further, with a 4.6% drop compared to July’s 3.5% reduction. Moreover, the mining and quarrying sectors suffered a 6.9% slump after experiencing a 2.1% increase in the previous month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output decreased by 0.1% in August, maintaining the same rate of decline observed in the prior period.
