In September 2025, Mongolia's annual inflation rate climbed to 9%, up from 8.8% in August, marking the highest increase since March. Notably, there was an acceleration in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose to 10.6% from 9.9% the previous month. Similarly, costs increased for furnishings, household equipment, and tools (from 5.8% to 7%), health (from 6.2% to 6.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (from 4.9% to 5.3%), transport (from 3.6% to 4.1%), and communication (from 1% to 1.5%). Conversely, there was a moderation in the costs of housing and utilities, which decreased from 19.8% to 19.4%, as well as restaurants and hotels (from 12.8% to 11.4%), miscellaneous goods and services (from 8.6% to 8.1%), clothing and footwear (from 8.4% to 7.9%), and recreation and culture (from 5.6% to 5.3%). Meanwhile, prices remained stable for insurance and financial services at 15.3% and education at 12.8%. On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices experienced a marginal rise of 0.2% in September, down from a 1.6% increase in August.
