Brazil Producer Prices Fall for Seventh Month

In August 2025, Brazil experienced a modest decline of 0.2% in producer prices compared to the previous month, following a 0.31% decrease in July. This marks the seventh consecutive month of decline in producer prices. Out of 24 industrial sectors, 12 experienced drops in prices, with notable decreases observed in perfumery, soap, and cleaning products (-1.66%), wood (-1.59%), and paper and pulp (-1.42%). In contrast, the computer and electronic equipment sector saw an increase of 1.59%. The most significant downward pressure came from the food products sector, which declined by 0.44%, followed by chemicals at -0.93% and extractive industries at -1.39%. Analyzing by economic category, there was a 0.40% decline in consumer goods and a 0.14% fall in intermediate goods, while capital goods experienced a rise of 0.38%. On an annual basis, producer inflation decreased to 0.48% compared to 1.35% in July.
