In August 2025, Mexico's industrial production experienced a year-over-year decline of 3.6%, following a 2.7% decrease in July and exceeding the anticipated 2.2% reduction. This marks the fifth consecutive month of declining industrial activity in Mexico, with widespread downturns across various sectors. Specifically, output decreased in mining, recording a drop of 6.8% compared to 5.8% in July; construction saw a 4% decline, up from 3.6%; manufacturing fell by 3.1%, down from 1.9%; and utilities decreased by 2.2%, an improvement from a 3.7% drop. Adjusted for seasonal variations, monthly output decreased by 0.3% in August, following a 1.2% drop in the previous month. For the year-to-date, the industrial output has contracted by 1.7% compared to the previous year.
