In the third quarter of 2025, Malaysia's construction sector experienced a 10.6% year-over-year growth, a decrease from the 12.9% growth recorded in the previous quarter, representing the slowest growth rate since the fourth quarter of 2023. The deceleration was observed across most segments. Residential building construction growth slowed to 11.6% from 13.9% in Q2, contributing to 23.0% of the overall construction activity. The non-residential building sector also saw a reduction, growing at 10.0% compared to 16.2% previously, and accounting for 28.4% of the total. Special trade activities experienced a substantial slowdown, growing at 15.3%, down from 22.2% and 35.9%, comprising 12.1% of the total construction activities. Conversely, activities in civil engineering projects accelerated, posting an 8.9% growth up from 7.5%, and constituting the largest share of the construction landscape at 36.4%.
