France Industry Confidence Weakens in November

In November 2025, France's manufacturing business climate indicator fell to 98, down from 101 in October, thus dipping below the long-term average of 100. Pessimism deepened, notably concerning overall order books, which decreased to -20 from October's -15, and foreign orders, which went down to -15 from -4, primarily impacting other transport equipment sectors. While optimism regarding personal production prospects decreased to 14 from 19, it still remained significantly above the long-term average. Past production figures saw a slight improvement, moving to -10 from -13, although they remained below average. Sentiment regarding finished-goods inventories waned, dipping to 16 from 19. General production prospects stayed weak at -10, with economic uncertainty hovering around 30. Workforce balances shifted slightly negative (-1 from 0), and trends in expected selling prices declined to 2 from 4. Sector-wise, there was a rise in confidence within the food products and beverages sector, an increase in the computer, electronic, and optical products sector, a downturn in transport equipment, and a slight improvement in other manufacturing sectors.
