Turkey Inflation Rate Lowest Since 2021

In December 2025, Turkey's annual inflation rate eased to 30.89%, slightly down from November's 31.07% and falling short of market forecasts of 31%. This represents the lowest inflation rate since November 2021. The deceleration was particularly noticeable in sectors such as housing and utilities, where the rate moderated to 49.45% from 49.92% in November. Likewise, transportation costs decreased to 28.44% from 29.23%, and clothing and footwear saw a decline to 6.5% from 8.99%. Other sectors like furnishings and household equipment, which dropped to 24.97% from 26.47%, recreation and culture, down to 24.99% from 25.87%, and miscellaneous goods and services, which lowered to 29.68% from 29.94%, also experienced softer price increases.

Conversely, some areas recorded rising costs. Food and non-alcoholic beverages increased to 28.31% from 27.44%, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco climbed to 30.8% from 30.7%. Health costs rose to 30.87% from 29.46%, communications expenses grew to 19.04% from 17.78%, education costs inched up to 66.27% from 66.17%, and prices in hotels, cafes, and restaurants increased to 34.11% from 33.91%. On a monthly comparison, consumer prices saw a slight uptick to 0.89% from November's 0.87%, which was still under the market prediction of 0.98%.
