Brazil Private Sector Activity Returns to Growth

The S&P Global Composite PMI for Brazil increased to 52.1 in December 2025, up from 49.6 in the previous month, indicating the first growth in private sector output in nine months. This latest figure reflects a moderate growth rate in Brazil's private sector, surpassing the long-term average. The growth was entirely driven by the services sector, which rose to a PMI of 53.7 from 50.1 in November. In contrast, the manufacturing sector continued to contract, declining to a PMI of 47.6 from 48.8, marking the eighth consecutive month of downturn. New orders, primarily from the services sector, rose for the second month. Regarding prices, both input costs and selling prices saw their slowest increases in 22 and three months, respectively.
