In November 2025, there was a 2.8% increase in building consents for new dwellings in New Zealand compared to the previous month. This rise comes after a revised 0.7% decline observed in October. During this period, 3,517 new dwellings were approved, which included 1,607 individual houses, 1,596 townhouses, flats, and units, 184 apartments, and 130 units designated for retirement villages. Over the 12 months ending November 2025, there were 6.8 new dwellings consented per 1,000 residents in New Zealand, an increase from 6.4 per 1,000 residents for the year ending November 2024.
