In November 2025, the seasonally adjusted total of dwelling approvals in Australia saw a significant increase of 15.2% from the previous month, reaching a near four-year peak of 18,406 units. This aligns with preliminary estimates and contrasts with a 6.1% decline recorded in the prior month. The surge marks the steepest monthly rise since May 2023, driven by a robust recovery in permits for private sector dwellings, excluding houses, which rose by 34.1%, compared to October's 13.5% decrease. Additionally, approvals for private sector houses improved slightly, showing a 1.3% increase following a 1.3% decline the month before. Regionally, building permits rose in New South Wales by 28.7%, Victoria by 23.8%, Queensland by 34.2%, and South Australia by 1.0%. Conversely, approvals decreased in Western Australia by 14.1% and Tasmania by 5.8%. On an annual scale, dwelling approvals increased by 20.2%, rebounding from a 1.1% decrease in October.
