In November 2025, Moldova's trade deficit significantly widened to USD 583.3 million from USD 478.4 million in the same month the previous year, primarily due to imports surpassing exports. Imports increased by 20.3% year-on-year to USD 979.2 million, propelled by higher purchases from the European Union (28.0% increase), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries (3.9% increase), and other regions (12.6% increase). Meanwhile, exports rose by 18.0% to USD 395.9 million, fueled by heightened sales to CIS countries (up 13.4%), the EU (up 8.8%), and other regions (up 52.0%). Over the period from January to November, Moldova's trade deficit expanded to USD 6,392.0 million, compared to USD 4,934.7 million for the same period the previous year.
