Sweden December Inflation Confirmed at 0.3%

In December 2025, Sweden's annual inflation rate held steady at 0.3%, matching November's figure, and confirming initial projections while remaining the lowest since May. This stability was influenced by ongoing deflationary trends in several sectors: housing and utilities saw a decrease of 2.62%, slightly improved from November’s 3.07%. The deflation in furnishings and household goods intensified to 3.36% from 1.42%, transport experienced a drop of 2.16% compared to a marginal decrease of 0.05% previously, and communication continued its decline at 0.15%, improving from a 0.59% fall. Moreover, prices for clothing and footwear declined by 0.49%, reversing from a 0.56% rise in November. Conversely, inflation pressures eased moderately for health services, down to 2.91% from 3.10%, and for restaurants and hotels, which dipped to 3.63% from 3.78%. On the other hand, inflation increased for food and non-alcoholic beverages, rising to 3.72% from 3.09%, for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, climbing to 2.38% from 2.10%, and miscellaneous goods and services edged up to 4.20% from 4.09%. Additionally, costs for recreation and culture rebounded noticeably, marking a 1.34% increase after a previous decline of 0.55%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained unchanged following a 0.4% reduction in November. The CPIF, which serves as the Riksbank's primary inflation measure, showed an annual increase of 2.1% and a marginal monthly rise of 0.1%.
