In December 2025, Bulgaria's annual inflation rate decreased to 5%, down from 5.2% in November, marking the lowest rate since June. This reduction was primarily due to more moderate price increases in several sectors: housing and utilities saw a rise of 7.6% compared to 8% in November; transport prices went up by 0.5% compared to 1.1%; recreation and culture experienced a 14.3% increase down from 18.4%; and restaurants and hotels prices rose by 9.8%, slightly below the previous 10.2%. Other areas, such as miscellaneous goods and services, also saw a deceleration, with prices increasing by 4.9% compared to 5.6%, while communication costs rose 2.6% compared to the previous 3.9%. Health costs continued their decline, with a fall of 4.7% following a previous decline of 4.5%. Conversely, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased to 5.6% from 5%, furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance saw a rise of 1.2% up from 1%, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices went up by 7.5%, compared to the earlier figure of 7.2%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices saw a slight increase of 0.1%, following a 0.5% rise the month before.
