Australia experienced a significant surge in employment numbers, with 65,200 new jobs added in December 2025, achieving an all-time high of 14.68 million. This increase starkly contrasts with the revised decline of 28,700 jobs in the previous month, and it significantly surpassed market forecasts, which anticipated a 30,000 rise. The December figures marked the fastest monthly growth since April, with full-time employment rising by 54,800 jobs, rebounding from a revised decrease of 65,300 in November. Additionally, part-time positions grew by 10,400, a slower pace than the previously revised increase of 36,600. The employment-to-population ratio improved to 64.0% from 63.8% in November, and the participation rate slightly increased to 66.7%, compared to the previous 66.9%. On an annual scale, total employment saw an increase of 165,400 jobs, equating to a 1.1% growth.
