FX.co ★ Spain Retail Trade Growth Slows in December

Retail sales in Spain experienced a 2.9% year-over-year increase in December 2025, following a notable 6% rise in the prior month. Growth was particularly pronounced in the non-food sector, with sales climbing by 3.6%. Notably, household equipment and personal equipment contributed significantly to this uptick, showing gains of 3.6% and 2.2%, respectively. Food sales maintained a more modest growth rate, also at 2.9%. However, when considering seasonally adjusted figures on a monthly scale, retail trade saw a decline of 0.8% in December, marking the steepest drop since January 2025, after a 1% upturn in the preceding month. Across the entire year of 2025, retail sales were up by 4.3% compared to the previous year.
