Croatia Trade Deficit Widens Slightly

In December 2025, Croatia experienced a slight increase in its trade deficit, rising to EUR 1.3 billion compared to EUR 1.2 billion in December of the previous year. This change reflected a smaller decline in imports compared to exports. Specifically, imports decreased by 2.2% year-on-year, totaling EUR 3.3 billion, while exports saw a drop of 4.2%, reaching EUR 2 billion. For the entirety of 2025, Croatia's trade deficit expanded to EUR 19.2 billion, up from EUR 18.8 billion during the same timeframe in the preceding year. Throughout this period, exports grew by 4.4% to EUR 25.1 billion, with notable increases in sales to both EU countries (5.6%) and non-EU countries (2.2%). Concurrently, imports rose by 3.3% to EUR 44.3 billion, largely fueled by heightened purchases from EU countries (1.2%) and significantly from non-EU countries (10.5%).
