Speculators Deepen Net Short in U.S. Corn Futures, CFTC Data Show

Speculative traders have further increased their bearish bets on U.S. corn, according to the latest Commitments of Traders data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). As of the update on 21 November 2025, corn speculative net positions fell to -92.4K contracts, down from -81.3K previously.

The widening net short suggests that speculative market participants—such as hedge funds and other large investors—have grown more pessimistic on the near-term outlook for corn prices. The shift from -81.3K to -92.4K indicates a stronger expectation that prices may remain under pressure or move lower, adding to the negative sentiment surrounding the U.S. corn market.
