France’s registered unemployment fell by 9,000 in April 2026, to 3,100.1 thousand, after a 35,600 increase in March. The decline was driven by the 25–49 age group, where the number of unemployed dropped by 4,800 to 1,797.8 thousand, and by those aged over 50, whose unemployment total decreased by 7,000 to 797.7 thousand. In contrast, unemployment among the under‑25s rose by 2,800 to 504.6 thousand.
