Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate eased to 6.3%, down from an upwardly revised 6.5% in the previous month. The number of unemployed persons fell by 21.7 thousand on a monthly basis but was still up by 10.2 thousand year-on-year, reaching 512.1 thousand.
By gender, the unemployment rate for men was 6.2%, while the rate for women declined to 6.3%, from 6.9% a month earlier. Among individuals aged 25–74, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate slipped to 4.9% from 5.1%, with a rate of 4.8% for men and 5.0% for women. This age group accounted for 73.3% of the total number of unemployed in April.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in April 2025 stood at 6.1%, below the most recent reading.
