FX.co ★ Latvia Industrial Output Growth Slows in April

Latvia’s industrial production increased by 7% year-on-year in April 2026, slowing from a 9.5% rise in March. Growth moderated notably in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply, where output expanded by 12.1% compared with a much stronger 34.6% in the previous month.

By contrast, manufacturing output accelerated, rising 6.8% in April after a 4.3% gain in March. This improvement was supported by robust growth in several segments, including wearing apparel (26.2% vs 3.1%), wood and wood products (1.6% vs 0.5%), printing and reproduction of recorded media (12.2% vs 1.9%), chemical and chemical products (16.6% vs 15.9%), and basic metals (12.3% vs 7.4%).

Meanwhile, the contraction in mining and quarrying eased, with output falling 8.3% year-on-year compared with a sharper 21.5% decline in March.

On a monthly basis, industrial production edged up 0.1% in April, following a stronger 1.3% increase in the previous month.
