FX.co ★ Austria Wholesale Prices Post Strongest Rise Since 2023

Wholesale prices in Austria increased by 6.9% year-on-year in May 2026, up from a 6.7% rise in April and marking the strongest annual gain since February 2023. The acceleration was mainly driven by sharp price increases for plastics and rubber in primary forms (53.1%), other liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (44.9%), and motor spirit (30.1%). Additional upward pressure came from higher prices for non-ferrous metals (16.9%), information and communication equipment (15.5%), waste and scrap (14.7%), other machinery and equipment (11.7%), watches and jewellery (11.4%), solid fuels (10.5%), and iron and steel (10.1%). On a monthly basis, wholesale prices rose by 0.1% in May, easing from a 1.1% increase in the previous month.
