FX.co ★ Lebanon Inflation Rate Slows in May

Lebanon’s annual inflation rate eased to 19.0% in May 2026, down from a more than one-year high of 20.0% in April. Price increases slowed for several major categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (17.9% vs 18.0%), housing and utilities (21.6% vs 26.3%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.6% vs 10.6%), restaurants and hotels (15.6% vs 16.0%), and miscellaneous goods and services (14.6% vs 15.1%).

In contrast, inflation accelerated in transportation (37.8% vs 33.3%), clothing and footwear (5.7% vs 4.9%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (7.1% vs 6.1%), and recreation, amusement and culture (48.4% vs 42.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.5% in May, slowing from a 3.0% increase in the previous month.
