Australia’s NAB Business Confidence Index rose to -5 in June 2026 from -14 in May, its highest level since February, as sentiment improved following an easing in geopolitical tensions. Business conditions were unchanged at 3 for a third straight month after the U.S. and Iran reached an agreement to end their multi-month conflict in the Middle East. Price pressures also eased: product price growth slowed to its weakest pace since February, and retail prices declined for the first time in seven years, according to the survey. Despite the lift in confidence, the data continued to indicate subdued business activity through the first half of 2026. NAB noted that while the Middle East conflict had raised concerns about growth and inflation, its impact on business activity and pricing was ultimately less severe than initially feared, supporting a more resilient business environment.
