Angola’s annual inflation rate slowed to 8.43% in September 2026, down from 8.78% in August, reaching its lowest level since April 2015 and extending the disinflation trend that has been underway since mid-2024. This moderation was largely driven by the relative stability of the kwanza and improved domestic supplies of essential goods. Price growth eased in several key categories, including food and non-alcoholic beverages (9.54% vs. 9.94%), transportation (3.32% vs. 3.67%), education (18.53% vs. 19.33%), furnishings (6.02% vs. 6.42%), and recreation, sports and culture (3.41% vs. 4.18%). By contrast, inflation accelerated in housing and utilities (9.07% vs. 8.24%) and in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (9.10% vs. 9.02%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.68%, picking up from a 0.59% increase in August.
