The Hang Seng Index gained 1.0%, or 247 points, to close at 24,031 on Friday, ending a two-session losing streak. Market sentiment improved as US equity futures advanced and other Asian markets recovered from earlier losses, while a pullback in oil prices offered additional support after US President Trump indicated he would not attack Iran before the November midterm elections. The easing in crude prices helped temper recent inflation concerns, though elevated US Treasury yields continued to cloud the broader outlook. Tech, financial, and property stocks led the rebound, partially offset by weakness in healthcare and technology services. Among notable movers, AIA rose 2.5%, Tencent 1.4%, Sun Hung Kai Properties 1.2%, PICC Property & Casualty 1.4%, and Xiaomi 1.5%, while Wuxi Biologics and CSPC Pharmaceutical each fell 1.2%. Investors were also positioning ahead of China’s September inflation and trade data, with mainland markets reopening after the Golden Week holiday.
