Hungary Jobless Rate Rises To 4.4%

The data released by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office on Friday indicates a slight rise in the country's unemployment rate during the period from October to December.

Specifically, the unemployment rate climbed from 4.3 percent in September-November to 4.4 percent in October-December. To compare, the jobless rate during the same period in the previous year was lower, standing at 3.9 percent.

Furthermore, the number of unemployed individuals increased from 212,400 in the three-month span prior to October-December to 219,800 during that quarter.

Situation of the younger demographic was even more concerning as the unemployment rate among 15 to 24-year-olds was recorded at a high of 14.7 percent at the end of December.

Additionally, there was a slight decline in the employment rate, down to 64.9 percent in October-December from 65.1 percent in the previous month.

Despite these figures, the data revealed a stable monthly unemployment rate of 4.2 percent for December.
