Palestine Consumer Prices Up 1.9% in March

In March 2025, consumer prices in Palestine experienced a year-on-year increase of 1.88%, recovering from a 2.51% decline observed in the previous month. Despite this increase, inflation remained at historically low levels due to renewed Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, commencing on March 19, and the closure of commercial crossings which led to a significant shortage of consumer goods. Notably, prices surged in categories such as housing and utilities (up by 62.89%), clothing and footwear (up by 14.46%), and health (up by 13.28%). Conversely, there were notable declines in prices for alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and narcotics (down by 11.86%) as well as food and non-alcoholic beverages (down by 2.17%). On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices rose sharply by 40.58% in March, reversing a 33.29% drop recorded in February.
