The panamax index, indicative of vessels that generally carry between 60,000 to 70,000 tons of commodities like coal or grain, saw a decrease of 1.8%, dropping to 1,246 points. Meanwhile, the supramax index dipped slightly by 3 points, reaching 983 points. Conversely, the capesize index, representing ships that transport large cargoes typically around 150,000 tons, including iron ore and coal, climbed by 1%, reaching 1,990 points—its highest level since May 16. Overall, the benchmark index faced a weekly decline of 3.5%.
