DAX Fails to Hold Gains, Still Books Monthly Gain

On the final trading day of July, Frankfurt's DAX index dipped by approximately 0.8%, closing at 24,085.1. Investors grappled with an array of earnings reports from corporations on both sides of the Atlantic. Additionally, caution prevailed as the August 1 deadline for tariffs imposed by President Trump loomed. The European Union is anticipating a 15% tariff by the US on most of its exports starting Friday, despite the absence of a mutual agreement on a critical document outlining the tariff deal's structure. In corporate developments, Siemens Healthineers saw a decline of 4.4% after Siemens AG further decreased its stake in the company by nearly two percentage points, reducing its ownership to 71.12%. BMW shed 0.7% following a report of reduced profits, although the company upheld its forecast for the year. On the upside, Lufthansa gained close to 3% following stronger-than-expected performance in the second quarter and an affirmed outlook. Overall, the DAX advanced by about 0.7% for the month.
