FX.co ★ Cape Verde Inflation Rate Falls to Over 1-Year Low

Cape Verde’s annual inflation rate eased to 1.4% in January, down from 3.3% in December and marking the lowest level since December 2024. The slowdown was mainly driven by more moderate price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.7% vs. 5.8% in December), restaurants and hotels (9% vs. 9.9%), and clothing and footwear (6.9% vs. 10.5%).

In addition, housing and utilities costs declined (-4.5% vs. 0% previously), as did transportation prices (-1.5% vs. -0.7%). By contrast, prices accelerated in the furnishing and household equipment category (8.4% vs. 4.6%).

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) fell by 1.7% in January, following a 1% increase in the previous month.
